Hyper Island is known for its immersive, hands-on approach to learning. When they wanted to create an industry-leading Behavioural Design course, they came to us. The goal was bold: deliver a programme that equips participants to not only understand behavioural design but apply it immediately and effectively.
Overview

Hyper Island recognised that behavioural design was becoming a must-have skill for creative professionals and change-makers. To stay ahead of the curve, they needed to create a course that was:
Comprehensive:
Covering everything from foundational principles to advanced applications of behavioural design.Scalable:
Providing students with tools and resources they could use during and after the course.Real-world relevant:
Focusing on hands-on experiences that felt practical and actionable.
With a diverse audience of designers, researchers and change managers from brands like Adidas, Ikea, Netflix, and Meta already signed up, the timeline was tight, they needed a partner to deliver at the highest standard, quickly.
The problem

We combined our behavioural expertise with Hyper Island’s immersive style to create a course that was as practical as it was transformative.
1. Curriculum design
Developed a six-week intensive programme covering the entire behavioural design process, from diagnosing behaviours to testing interventions.
Included modules on essential frameworks like COM-B, Behaviour Change Wheel, and Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs).
2. Licensing BehaviourKit
Provided licensed access to BehaviourKit tools, now hosted on Behaviour Strategist.
Licensed the First Steps into Behavioural Design Guide to be used in the Hyper knowledge kit to ensure students had practical resources at their fingertips.
3. Hands-on learning
Designed the course around a live brief: reducing adolescent screen time, with real research sessions involving teenagers.
Fostered collaboration through international cohort-based learning, encouraging diverse perspectives.
4. Teaching and coaching
Delivered live teaching sessions on behavioural design tools and principles.
Provided 1:1 coaching to help students apply what they learned to real-world challenges.
5. Practical resources
Equipped students with tools like Behavioural Mapping Canvases and Action Sorters to simplify applying behavioural insights.
Integrated intention planning exercises to help participants map out how they’d implement their learning in their roles.
Our approach
